CCP invites players to join Eve to "Be the Villain".  Now, villains can be evil and cool at the same time.  Unfortunately, CODE is just a bunch of ass-hats.  But what CCP doesn't advertise, is that you can also "Be the Hero".  You can fly to hot-spots of criminal activity and save someone's ship - whether that is a pod, shuttle, mining barge or freighter.  Who you choose to be in Eve is driven by your own internal moral compass.  There is no guiding star to direct you to be good or evil.  That inclination to be or not to be, rests solely in the greatness ... or dark void ... of your own soul.
