Militia Boot Camp: Day Two - Thrasher Patrol

Your first mission: Thrasher Patrol

Private Newbro, now that you've begun training your core skills and have skilled into the Griffin, it's time to get on the grid.

When criminals are flying Thrashers, they are normally hitting pods and shuttles on the gates. This means you need to lock the thrasher very quickly, and jam their guns as fast as possible, as their intended victims tend not to survive a second volley, let alone a first volley.

You will need a frigate, with a fast lock speed, and 'Red' Ladar jammers

Use the following website URL to identify the most likely active and targeted system/gate. Go to that location and camp the gate.

With your afterburner (or microwarp drive) always running, and your sensor boosters always running, orbit that gate at 30-35km... and wait.  :)

Important: Set your safety to green.

While you are waiting, rearrange your modules so that the jammers are on the keyboard shortcuts for F1 and F2.  Overheat your jammers for increased strength and chance of success.

Monitor DScan frequently to look for incoming thrashers.

Remember, your tank is your speed and distance from the ganker!

Sort your Overview by Type, descending, so that Thrashers will appear toward the top of the overview. You could customize your overview to just show destroyers, if you wish, but that is not necessary.

The criminals, normally red, will appear on your overview, and flash across the screen toward the gate,  Highlight (click on) the thrasher with your mouse in the overview, and spam press the ctrl key ( or even the F1 key ) until the locking sequence begins.

Once the locking sequence begins, you can press F1 and F2, (using the fits above as an example). That should activate the two jammers as soon as the lock completes.

With practice, you should be able to jam the Thrasher before he shoots, either forcing him to escape by warping harmlessly away, or desperately burning toward the gate to jump, or he sits and is shot by the gate guns and Concord - when they finally arrive.  :)

If the criminal runs away, success! You prevented crime and saved someone's day!

If the criminal explodes, congratulations!  Justice has been served. Also, remember to loot the blue wreck!

If his victim explodes, don't worry, and never be discouraged.
